What if I need to resubmit my application because of changes to my eligibility for state programs?

You may get a letter from your state telling you that someone on your application doesn’t qualify for Medicaid and the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) in your state.

When this happens, you may be able to get coverage through the Health Insurance Marketplace®, even if you weren’t eligible when you first applied. You’ll need to update your Marketplace application to see if you can get help paying for health coverage and services through:

  • A premium tax credit that can be used right away to lower your monthly premium costs
  • Health plans that lower your out-of-pocket costs

You’ll need the Application ID number that’s shown at the top of the letter you got from the Marketplace. Use this Application ID number to view, update, and resubmit your application in the Marketplace.

Get details to complete your Marketplace application — You’ll learn how to answer questions about losing Medicaid/CHIP coverage.

Check with your employer about job-based coverage.
Your employer may offer health insurance. If they do, find out how to decide between job-based or Marketplace coverage.

I already submitted my Marketplace application for coverage.

If you already submitted an application to get Marketplace coverage for this year during Open Enrollment or a Special Enrollment Period, you can review your application and report a life change. You may now be eligible for different Marketplace plans and programs.
