More about ending coverage

Share:

If everyone on your application has Marketplace coverage with financial help and was found eligible for coverage through Medicaid or the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP), end your Marketplace coverage now.

Your Marketplace coverage won’t end unless you cancel it.

  • You can keep your Marketplace coverage if you want, but a Marketplace plan would cost more than Medicaid and usually wouldn’t offer more coverage or benefits. You also aren’t eligible for savings on a Marketplace plan. You’d have to pay full price.
  • Cancel your coverage by December 15 or you may be automatically enrolled in a Marketplace plan for next year.

How to cancel your Marketplace coverage

Log into your Marketplace account, select your current application, and then “My Plans & Programs.” Then select “End (Terminate) All Coverage.”

You can choose to end coverage today or in the future, depending on when your new Medicaid or CHIP coverage starts.

If you were found eligible for Medicaid or CHIP for next year, stop next year’s coverage in your Marketplace account before December 15 so you don’t get automatically enrolled into a Marketplace plan for next year.
