How can I verify my identity?

If we can't verify your identity, we’ll let you know if you need to submit documents to the Marketplace. Learn how to upload documents.

See below for a list of documents that you can submit to verify your identity. You may need to send more than one document, so be sure to read the lists carefully.

Documents you can submit

  • Driver’s license issued by state or territory.
  • School ID card.
  • Voter registration card.
  • U.S. military card or draft record.
  • ID card issued by the federal, state, or local government.
  • U.S. passport or U.S. passport card.
  • Certificate of Naturalization (Form N-550 or N-570). See what this document looks like.
  • Certificate of U.S. Citizenship (Form N-560 or N-561). See what this document looks like.
  • Permanent Resident Card or Alien Registration Receipt Card (Form I-551). See what this document looks like.
  • Employment Authorization Document that contains a photograph (Form I-766).
  • Military dependent’s ID card.
  • Native American Tribal document.
  • U.S. Coast Guard Merchant Mariner card.
  • Foreign passport, or identification card issued by a foreign embassy or consulate that contains a photograph.

If you don’t have any of the documents above, you can submit 2 of these documents:

  • U.S. public birth certificate.
  • Social Security card.
  • Marriage certificate.
  • Divorce decree.
  • Employer ID card.
  • High school or college diploma (including high school equivalency diplomas).
  • Property deed or title.
